Magellan Studio (“Company”, “we”, “us”) values the privacy of users of the Bookle app (“Service”) and complies with applicable privacy laws.
1. Information We Collect
The Service collects the following information:

- When you delete your account, reading records are deleted. Only aggregate counts that keep no individual records — for example, how many times a given book has been read — remain, for service quality improvement. These aggregates contain no per-person records.
- Data in a guest account used without social sign-in (device identifier, child nickname and birth month, reading records, push notification token) is automatically deleted from our servers after 12 months of inactivity.

- If you request account deletion by email, the request, verification, and completion emails are kept for 3 months after the request is completed so we can confirm the deletion history, and are then destroyed. These emails contain the email address you wrote from.
Collected when you use social sign-in
The Service lets you sign in with a Google or Apple account. Social sign-in is optional — if you use the Service with a device-based guest account instead, none of the items below are collected.

- We verify the authentication token issued by the provider and receive only the items above. We never collect your password, and we do not access other information in your provider account such as contacts, calendars, or files.
- If you choose “Hide My Email” with Apple sign-in, we receive and store the anonymous relay address Apple provides instead of your real email address.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
The Service does NOT collect:
- Direct personal identifiers such as phone number or government ID number (for the email address and display name received through social sign-in, see section 1)
- Passwords for your social sign-in account
- Payment information
- Personal data on your device such as contacts or photos
- Precise location, or any location data stored on our servers
3. Device Permissions
The Service may use the following device permissions:

Each permission is requested separately at the point of use. Declining a permission does not affect any features other than the one that depends on it.
4. How We Use Information
Collected information is used only for the following purposes:
- Providing and operating the Service (reading records, book recommendations, AI book guidance)
- Analyzing per-child reading levels and recommending books
- Providing reading statistics and reports
- Service improvement and analytics
- Sending push notifications (when consented)
- Handling user inquiries and sending replies
5. Information Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except:
- When required by law
- When necessary to provide the Service
6. Third-Party Services
The Service uses the following third-party services:
- Firebase Analytics: App usage statistics (Google Privacy Policy)
- Firebase Cloud Messaging: Push notification delivery
- Firebase Crashlytics: App crash analysis
- Sign in with Google: Social sign-in authentication and receipt of the account data listed in section 1 (Google Privacy Policy)
- Sign in with Apple: Social sign-in authentication and receipt of the account data listed in section 1 (Apple Privacy Policy)
7. Your Rights
You may exercise the following rights at any time:
- Edit or delete child profile information (in the Settings screen)
- Delete reading records (in My Library)
- Request that your social account be unlinked
- Request account deletion (see Account Deletion) — data tied to the account is deleted, including inquiry content and reply email addresses. Items we’re legally required to retain may be kept for the period required by applicable law
8. Security
We implement the following measures to protect your information:
- Encrypted communications (HTTPS/TLS)
- Secure storage of authentication tokens (Keychain)
- Minimal data collection
9. Children’s Privacy
The Service is designed for parents and guardians to manage their children’s reading activity. Child profile information (nickname, birth month) is entered by the parent or guardian; we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
10. Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated due to legal or service changes. Changes will be notified through the app.
